YouthZone Welcomes Two New Staff Members

Welcome to YouthZone! We are thrilled to be introducing two new staff members to our team!

Silvia Berragan, Youth Advocate I

Silvia Barragan was born in Mexico and raised in Washington state. She moved to Colorado in 2000, raising her three kids in the The Valley. She is incredibly experienced with over 20 years of work in Social Services, specifically in the Roaring Fork Valley. As a bilingual, bicultural, and culturally informed individual, she truly connects with and understands our large Latino population. As a local mother, Silvia has a passion for the community and is invested in helping young people live successful lives. Silvia says, “I like working with YouthZone, because YouthZone has an understanding of the challenges youth have and provides youth a safe place to be able to be themselves.”

Lyn WIlliam, Youth Advocate

Lyn Williams worked the first part of his career in public education. He has dedicated his working career to working with teens. He has over 20 years of experience in many diverse settings ranging from the backcountry to public-school classrooms. Lyn always does his best to bring presence, compassion and a “how can I help” ethic to his work – at YouthZone and in areas of his life. He firmly believes that life is a journey with no set path, and we can always change course when necessary. Lyn comments, “I firmly believe that when we’re solely on our own, we don’t have a chance; together we’re stronger.”

We are confident that Silvia and Lyn will be an incredible addition to our team, and we know that they will be integral in helping us continue to YouthZone’s mission as a family-first nonprofit dedicated to fostering positive youth development for teens that call the Western Slope of Colorado their home.
